What you can do now.
ARkStorm.org is not an emergency service. These are the official sources to use and the steps they recommend.
Four things to do before any storm.
-
01
Know your flood zone.
Look up your address on FEMA’s official flood maps.

02
Make a plan.
Ready.gov covers evacuation routes, supplies, and what to do before, during and after a flood.

03
Look into flood insurance.
Most homeowner policies don’t cover flooding. National Flood Insurance Program policies usually take 30 days to start.

04
Sign up for alerts.
Follow National Weather Service forecasts and sign up for your county’s emergency alerts.
National Weather Service
When a storm is on the way.
Forecasters should be able to see an ARkStorm forming about a week before it arrives. When that happens, warnings and evacuation orders come from the National Weather Service and your county emergency office.
ARkStorm.org will point to those official sources. It does not issue warnings of its own.
